This is all about how you can use the moon’s energy to optimize your life. By doing so, you can start to manifest your life’s dreams in an extra powerful way!
Each moon phase comes with its own particular energy. When you are aware of this, you can work with the moon’s energy to improve your life. The most powerful moon phases are New Moon and Full Moon. These are the moments to either manifest your dreams (New Moon) or to heal and forgive all things negative (Full Moon). During the new moon the energy is at its low, and during full moon the energy is at its peak.
Since I found out about this, I love to take the time to stop and reflect on what I want to focus on, and what I want to release from my life. The lunar phases are a great reminder of when to do so!
How The Moon Affects Your Life
We are all connected to the moon and the moon is strongly connected to the earth. She controls the tides, and has always been associated with rainfall and harvest. Whether we are aware of it or not, the moon has a very strong influence on events of life on earth.
We tend to disconnect from nature by staying inside our houses, watching tv and turning on artificial lighting. By tuning in to the moon, we reconnect to nature and the kosmos and will more naturally feel connected to something bigger than ourselves.
For centuries, humans used the moon to tell time and to plan out their lives. Celebrations for full moon or moon circles were a common thing back in day. Because the moon cycle affects women even more, women used to come together to meditate and reflect on the new or full moon energy. The moon was also used as a guide for agriculture (sowing/harvesting) and for predicting the weather.
The Phases Of The Moon
The moon orbits the earth in about one month (that is also the reason why the word ‘month’ comes from moon). The moon’s position changes in relation to the earth and the sun. This determines the moon phase and how much we can see of it.

Each month, the moon goes through the following phases. Spiritually, each moon phases is associated with a different theme or focus:
- New moon – We cannot see the moon at this moment. This is a time of transformation and new beginnings. This is the best time to make wishes and for manifestation.
- Waxing moon – This is a time for growth, good luck and prosperity. A time to move forward what has been set in motion during new moon.
- Full moon – The energy is at its peak, we can now see the moon fully. This is a time to reap rewards from your previous efforts. This is also a time for tying up loose ends and for closure in general. Be grateful for what you have achieved and let go of what does not serve you anymore.
- Waning moon – This is a time for cleansing, breaking bonds or ties that are holding you back. A time to recuperate and let go of bad habits.
The moon phases represent the cycle of life: birth, growth, change and renewal. The cycle starts at new moon, the phase of birth. From new moon to full moon, called the waxing phase, there is growth. At full moon the energy reaches is highest peak, this is the start of the waning phase. The time of change and renewal begins, all the way until new moon arrives again.
How To Optimize Your Life By Using The New Moon’s Energy
The New Moon phase is definitely my favorite! New Moon is the moment to reflect on what you would like to achieve most at this moment in time and make wishes on it.

How To Make New Moon Wishes
- Wish from your heart. The secret to making wishes and manifesting them, is to only wish what is coming from your heart. You have to be able to feel what you wish for as if it already came true. And make sure that you only think about what you DO want, not about what you DON’T want.
- Keep it actionable. You can dream as big as you want, and that will help you to stop limiting believes, but if you wish something smaller first, it will feel less overwhelming to take the steps to realize your wishes.
- Wish for a feeling that you want. Instead of wishing for a specific material possession or a relationship with a certain person, wish for a feeling that you want. Why do you want to own a certain possession? What is the feeling that you hope it will give you? If you are aware of the why, it might make you change what you actually want 🙂
- Whatever you wish for, keep it positive! This positivity will reflect in all areas in your life, and will help you manifest a positive outcome. If you follow the natural Law of Intention and Desire, this will help you to achieve the outcome you want.
How to Manifest your Dreams
You can do this three days before, the day of, or three days after the New Moon. These are 4 things you can do to manifest your dreams:
- Create a ritual for yourself– Take some time out of the daily grind to relax and reflect on what you would like to achieve next.
- Write down your wishes – take time to do this and really focus on what it is that you wrote down. Try to take a few deep breaths and imagine it already came true. (Use an affirmation such as: “I am so happy I achieved…”]
- Meditation – Meditation is key in this process. You need your mind to be as clear as possible about what you want, and you need to communicate it clearly out into the universe. When you do this, you will notice things will start to happen in your favour.
- Visualization – Include visualization in your meditations. Visualize clearly in your mind what it will look like when you achieve what you want. Remember that everything that happens, happens twice: once in the mind and once in the material world.
- Use affirmations – Using affirmations in your meditations will help you reprogram your mind with helpful and positive thoughts. By using affirmations you can change any negative thought patterns that have become habitual. By changing your thought patterns, you will change your life!

Create Your Own New Moon Ritual
Create your own ritual and make it yours! Just go with whatever feels good to you. If you are new to meditation, you look up a new moon meditation online, or follow some of the steps below. These are some of the things you can include in your new moon ritual:
- Sit in a calm place and take a few deep breaths
- Express 3 things that you are grateful for in your life
- Write down 5 things you would like to wish for
- Take a few minutes for each wish and visualize that it came true
- Think of an affirmation for each wish
- Decide for each of your wishes how you plan to realize them
- Trust that you can make all your wishes come true and that you will get the help that you need. Now let go and release your wishes to the universe.
- Be grateful that you took the time for yourself to do this!

How To Optimize Your Life By Using The Full Moon’s Energy
The Full Moon is all about letting go. The moon´s energy is now at its peak, coming to an explosion after a build-up phase. This is a perfect moment to look inwards and decide what negativity or blockages you want to let go of. What is not working for you at this moment? It is now time to release that.
The only way to truly let go of what no longer serves you, is through forgiveness. Forgive yourself and others that you need to forgive.
Do you find it difficult to forgive yourself or someone that is testing you, then realize that situation is happening for you to learn something from it. We have the strongest soul connection with the people who challenge us the most in life. (Mind you, forgiving does not mean approving of everything someone has done, it is merely you letting go of what was.)

Create Your Own Full Moon Ritual
Full Moon can be at different times during the day or at night. Check online when the exact time is. The best moment to forgive is the night before the full moon.
These are some ideas to include in your ritual:
- Find a quiet calm space, light a candle or some incense and have a piece of paper and pen handy
- Sit comfortably and take a few deep breaths to ground yourself
- Think of a situation that upset you, or a negative thought pattern or habit that you have, that is no longer serving you in your life. Write this down.
- Now visualize the person that upset you, or imagine yourself. Imagine yourself or that person surrounded by a bright light happy and smiling at you. Make sure you create a good feeling between you both. Say ‘I forgive you’ and let them float off.
- Imagine a bright emerald light around you heart space and let it fill the room with light. Imagine the light shining very bright on everything in your space.
- Express gratitude to yourself for taking this time and express your intention to forgive and move on with your life without this holding you back.
- Now go somewhere to burn the paper with your writings and release it into the universe.
The Moon’s Energy and the Zodiac
Each month every moon phase has a different focus, which is based on the Zodiac sign the moon is in at that moment. Each Zodiac sign gives a specific flavour or focus for that phase.
For example, when the New Moon is in the sign of Cancer, there is an increased energy in the space of the home and family. By being aware of this, you can make use of this additional energy boost for things you want to change in that area of your life.
